Dear all,
One of the main topics of our BIG conference is READINESS! That has 2 aspects to it – readiness to engage as well as readiness to do. This topic is about readiness to engage.
(I CC our main topic speakers and BCC people who have indicated possible interest to participate for information – if you would like to support what you read next – please let me know)
The outline agenda is here – where we have a placeholder for the readiness section
Today, Veronica, Chris and I started to develop the idea. Chris talked about (what I understood to be) readiness to do – which is great, and that is perfect for a follow on session we could add in here.
In my view (what do you think?)
- Our BIG working assumption related to making change is that it begins with a protagonist that wants to do something. Somebody has to put their head above a parapet.
- Based on their circumstances and perspective – they face difficulties or see opportunities that they believe should be addressed.
- They will come from part of the organisation – perhaps the CEO, but more likely someone perhaps from a strategy, governance or change background. They may or may not have the power / influence to define and make changes.
- Therefore - the BIG Readiness Assessment is a way to help a protagonist to understand their place in the organisation, be clearer on the stakeholders needed to even begin, be aware of necessary trigger conditions, identify (accepted) difficulties to overcome and opportunities to exploit, outline solutions, and plot a pathway to change – and the related value from it.
A key aspect to the readiness session is data collection about a protagonists situation to enable them to develop it. The data collection can be narrow and specific about principles like n our outline readiness model – but it can be a more sophisticated modelling tool which also enables build of the organisation situation (stakeholders, org structure, known issues etc etc)
So where are we.
Some of you have access to this ppt. If you don’t – pls let me know) Readiness Session.pptx
3 questions:
**1. Do you want to help shape this part of the BIG Conference?
- Do you want to help deliver this aspect to the conference?
- Would you like to engage as a partner on this BIG Subject matter?**
Please get back to me with your interest, as this work is now starting.
Thanks everyone 😊
