We have spent about 6 weeks talking about a conference.
It has been impossible to engage people at times when all can make it, so I’ve tried to progress in published times when people know we can meet.
We did identify workstreams, and people did suggest what they could support. However - getting this off the ground is proving amazingly difficult.
We are now at the stage where:
I have a vague placeholder for the event - https://big-cic.org.uk/conference/
I’ve had several conversations with people about an agenda - without being able to get everyone together - or contribute via email or online.
This is where I have the agenda developing.
As you will see it consists of:
Pre Conference
The idea is to blog and podcast with partners / presenters in the run up to the conference in topics that will generate audience and attendees. At the moment - it is only me seeking Commercial or Professional Partners
I think this will grow in line with the partners we can engage. Ideas include:
- Commercial Partner Session
- Veronicas Book Group
- Prep for Associate Exam Exam
- Merch
- plus any other teaser topic we can put on with partners.
Conference - 5th November - the day for a BIG bang!

Agenda:
Welcome and why BIG?
BIG Introduction
Frankenorg - a BIG implementation. Because we can’t offer a perfect BIG Example -we will manufacture a case example from all the bits we have done
Assessment - facilitated workshop part 1 to explore the BIG Principles and to capture the status of “a situation we are familiar with”
Break
Assessment - facilitated workshop part 2
Session 1
Session 2
Session 3
(Sessions 1-3 are for speakers that can fund / bring attendees)
Summary and Call to Action
We did talk about a Day 2 - which is a follow on day where people can present / consume partner sessions - on whatever basis the partner wants to offer them
Ideas include:
Organisation , Strategy Information and Operating Models
BIG Governance
Accountability
Business Support and Assurance
Information and Data
First Steps Process and Roadmap
Prep for Professional Exam
Associate Exam
We have also talked about filling a conference library with supporting content we dont have time to present in conference. Perhaps of there are enough topics and attendees, we could offer parallel sessions - but we have to wait and see.
WRT Conference Commercials - while the CIC would make this free - we need some cash and a tie for people to attend (having paid to). There are 2 tickets proposed:
FULL - monthly / single payment £90 which comes with:
- Full Membership for 1 year
- Associate Exam (L1),
- Access to Pre conf blogs / podcasts,
- Access conference library
- Access to Conferences FOC
Conference Day only (Certificate of Attendance) - £20
For Sponsor / Partners - this needs work, and tie in to The Commercial Partner offering. I think they can be separate - or negotiated together.

That is a lot of progress @Veronica @Alex_Shapley and I had on Monday.
I am free tomorrow 8am as usual to develop with whoever can attend.
