Hi All,
@ChrisB @simon @Andrey_Malakhov @MarjanaS @Liss_Donaldson @Veronica @Alex_Shapley @Bolaji_Olaniru @Natalia_Jobson @OdetteB @RichardM et al
Chris and I moved the Purpose and Goals stuff along a bit.
I’ve now interpreted those into a version to move on from.
Purpose and Goals v1.docx
- We do not all agree on the working and meaning of every aspect, but I think we should move on and iterate as we progress.
- Many comments have been about developing clarity. We do not all agree that we have enough definition at the moment. I think more definition will develop
- Chris and I discussed at length “purpose”. What was in the doc is the Purpose of the CIC. I have added a Purpose Statement about BIG Itself (Chat GPT generated off our BoK), and referred a reader to the purpose chapter in the BoK and “What is BIG”. I am reticent to include much more, but I would suggest as people start to engage stakeholders, they may develop more / edited content.
- Chris and I discussed at length numerical aspirations. The result is I have left the text pretty much as is but positioned the goals as aspirations – then added a table of numerical aspirations. Before anyone asks – I have no basis for these numbers. Personally – I want to see who I can engage in the conference in principle, then refine – as we may for example, hear number expectations from Commercial Partners. – but what do you think of the numbers?
- With respect to “Means to Achieve Conference Goals” – this perhaps is pretty self evident to some – but I have tweaked it for those who it may not be self evident to.
- On Chris’ suggestion I have shortened the text on Target Conference Attendees.
- We also had a difference of understanding of what we mean by themes. What is in the document is some ideation on the topics we might cover in sessions - which are of course dependent on who we get to speak. These will develop. I should also note – we already have some themes defined – which are intended to appeal to / engage stakeholder groups who may come to BIG from different angles - Strategic Themes - big-cic.org – the idea is to use these themes as general ways to engage various stakeholder groups. @‘nataliajobson2@gmail.com’ is having a look at this.
- As yet I have no feedback on Benefits by Stakeholder Group. This is pretty much the ChatGPT extract from the workshop several of us ran 2 weeks ago – no one looked at it yet?
Next Steps:
Clearly - there is a lot to do. However – I don’t want to commit time to do something unless we have a good idea on support from commercial partners, professional partners and community speakers.
In my view – we now need to spend some time engaging commercial partners, professional partners and community speakers to build a group that can deliver a conference.
The next task is to take the outline conference message to people and pull people in. IMO we do not have capacity or commitment enough presently in our merry band.
(please note - I dont think this means there is other development work we should not also be doing - but engagement is where my time is going next)
I have started a seed list of possible commercial partners and professional partners. We have a member list, We have members in LinkedIn. Can we build a team who are bought in to commit time to develop end run a conference? Can we get names next or targets and start to email / phone people?
So far
Please can we gat together some indications of interest before we go much further?
I believe we need
- A Conference landing page – with essential information
- A slides / flyer / graphics to engage people
- A LinkedIn message we can adapt / use
- A short video to pitch the vision
It would be great to hook up on the Monday / Wednesday sessions (for those that can help) to get initial engagement moving
